Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has been officially announced, accompanied by an extensive ~10-minute trailer. The announcement of Death Stranding 2 during the PlayStation State of Play event came as a significant surprise, stirring intrigue among many, myself included. The first game, despite its divisive reception, offered a complete cinematic experience.
Now, creator Hideo Kojima is set to bring more ideas to life with the unveiling of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, as showcased in a mysterious and eerie trailer. The game is scheduled for an exclusive launch on PlayStation 5 in 2025.
Following the conclusion of Death Stranding, Lea Seydoux’s character Fragile establishes a new civilian faction named Drawbridge. Their goal is to reconnect to a novel destination, seemingly located in Mexico and the surrounding regions of America.
Set years after Sam goes AWOL in Death Stranding with Louise, the narrative unfolds as Fragile endeavors to continue the efforts of the UCA, which withdrew after America reconnected, leaving most of the world unlinked. With the absence of Porters, Fragile sets up Drawbridge to reconnect the UCA to various locations.
In Death Stranding 2, players will operate from a new ship, the DHV Mejallan, which serves as the base regrouping at Sam’s location. Sam works on improving network coverage in various locations, likely within Mexico. The trailer also reveals new biomes, including rocky terrains, deserts, and a metropolitan city.

We also get a look at the returning villain Higgs. Sporting a haircut similar to Amelie in Death Stranding, it seems he has taken a liking to rock-and-roll this time. We also are introduced to a talking doll, the captain of the DHV Mejallan, a mysterious new ninja character, and another mysterious female.
Regardless, it seems like the sequel is a culmination of every game feature from the previous game, improved and perfected with a sprinkle of something new. With this and the movie in the works, it seems the fans are in for a treat.
