OnLeaks has leaked high-quality renders of the Google Pixel 9 Pro, showcasing a sleeker design, a redesigned camera bar, and a flat display. The phone is 0.3 mm slimmer than the Pixel 8 Pro while maintaining almost identical dimensions.
If you’ve been following Pixel news, you’re likely aware of Google’s challenges in keeping details about their future devices under wraps. The Pixel 8 series leaks emerged a few months after the Pixel 7 series, and the trend persists with the Pixel 9 series.
With approximately 8-10 months until the launch of the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro, official renders of the upcoming device have surfaced, along with a few other details we can infer from them. Here’s everything you need to know about the newly leaked Pixel 9 Pro.
The latest leaks, courtesy of OnLeaks and MySmartPrice, reveal notable design changes. Google has opted for a departure from curved back edges in favor of sharper edges. The bezels seem slightly reduced, providing a slimmer appearance compared to the Pixel 8 Pro.
The redesigned camera bar at the back no longer extends to the edges, resembling the Pixel Fold. The module, more curvy than before, acts as a bezel for the camera setup and includes space for the flash and what appears to be a temperature sensor, a feature likely retained by Google.
The power and volume buttons maintain their position on the right side, while the SIM card slot has been relocated to the bottom right side, next to the USB-C port. At the top, there’s a microphone and a mmWave antenna mark, as evident from the leaked Pixel 9 Pro renders.
Pixel 9 Pro will be Smaller?
The leak indicates that the Pixel 9 Pro will feature a 6.5-inch screen, slightly smaller than the 8 Pro’s 6.7-inch panel. However, this seems likely to be an error, considering the Pixel 9 Pro has almost identical dimensions to the 8 Pro. The front changes aren’t significant enough to accommodate a smaller screen and appear quite similar to the 8 Pro. Notably, the Pixel 9 Pro is 0.3mm slimmer than the 8 Pro.
Previous leaks hinted at a third model in the Pixel 9 series, potentially positioned between the standard and Pro versions. This raises the possibility that the 6.5-inch display size is intentional, suggesting the mid-Pixel model will have that size, while the current one could be the “XL” variant. Time will provide clarity.
The phone’s design bears resemblance to the iPhone and the Nothing Phone (2), albeit with slightly more curved aesthetics. The shift to flat edges might be divisive, considering the popularity of the Pixel 8 Pro’s bubbly look that aligns well with Android’s curvy UI elements. The design of the Pixel 9 Pro appears to be a departure.
