In June 2022, for his son’s eleventh birthday, American Jared Bricks aimed to make the day special. They chose to celebrate in a sunny, idyllic location. Unfortunately, after a trip to the ocean, he noticed his apple watch was gone.
The watch slides after a dive
During the trip, Jared used his Apple Watch to gather data during his scuba dives. He went twice daily and enjoyed checking the time spent underwater. The Apple’s Watch also provided health information, such as heart rate during exercise and blood oxygen levels.
On the last day, they took a boat to the Baths, a beautiful beach in Virgin Gorda. There is also a rocky area where people often dive. During this outing, father and son had a great time, but when returning to the boat, Jared noticed his Watch was missing. It had slipped off during a dive. He immediately reported the loss in the Find My app but felt it was futile. He believed the watch was lost forever at the bottom of the ocean.
A year later, he found his Apple Watch again
In December 2023, Jared received a voicemail from Jonathan, a resident of Virgin Gorda, who informed him that he had found his Apple Watch. Jonathan managed to get Jared’s contact information after charging the watch. After connecting with Jared, he sent the watch from the Caribbean to the small town of Felton, California, where Jared lives, just a few miles from Cupertino’s Apple Park.
