A new Google Home Favorites widget is making it easier to control smart home gadgets on Android. You can now manage devices, actions, and automations right from your phone’s homescreen. Wear OS is also getting a Favorites tile and complication for quick access to frequently used devices from your smartwatch.
The widget allows you to view and interact with commonly used devices directly on your homescreen without opening the Google Home app. Instead of tapping a shortcut to the full app, you can quickly perform tasks like turning on lights or checking the temperature.
You can adjust the size of the widget to customize your smart home controls. It’s available for users enrolled in the Google Home app’s public preview starting May 30th.

On Wear OS, the Favorites tile offers quick controls for up to five devices, accessed by swiping left. Tapping an icon takes you to the device’s controls in the Wear OS Home app, enabling actions like unlocking doors or adjusting lights.
The complication on Wear OS watch faces lets you control a specific device directly from the watch face, such as a fan or light. It’s available on devices running Wear OS 3 or higher, rolling out on May 30th.
To use these features, set up your desired devices in the Favorites section of the Google Home app.
