Apple’s WWDC 2024 is finally here, and so is the damn-exciting iOS 18. The new iPhone operating system is all studded with AI galore and has taken everyone’s excitement to a whole new level. While you may know all the new iOS 18 features, most users will have to wait until September when iOS 18 is officially released for public use. If you’re tech-savvy and just can’t wait to get your hands on the latest iOS 18 features, you can enroll in Apple’s Developer Beta program and install iOS 18 Developer Beta on your iPhone right now. Let me show you how.
This is the first developer preview of iOS 18, and it may contain bugs that could cause your iPhone to glitch during day-to-day use. We don’t recommend installing the iOS 18 developer beta on your primary device.
How to Install iOS 18 Developer Beta on iPhone
To install the iOS 18 developer beta on your iPhone, you need to be a member of Apple’s developer program, but you don’t need to pay the $99 annual membership fee. Once you enroll your Apple ID in the developer program, the option to download the latest beta will appear in the Settings app. Previously, you had to activate a beta profile on your iPhone to access beta updates, but now it’s much simpler.
Here are the steps to install the iOS 18 developer beta on your iPhone:
- Download the Apple Developers app (Free) from the App Store.
- Open the Developers app, tap on the Account tab at the bottom, and hit the Sign In button.
- Sign in with your Apple ID and tap Enroll Now.
- On the Program Membership Benefits screen, tap Continue, agree to the prerequisites, and follow the on-screen instructions.
Note:
The iOS 18 developer beta is approximately 6.78GB in size. It took us around 15-20 minutes to install the latest iOS 18. However, the installation time and download speed may vary depending on your internet connection.
- Once enrolled, go to Settings -> General -> Software Update -> Beta Updates -> iOS 18 Developer Beta.
- On the “Update Now” screen, tap Download and Install to begin the installation.
The first developer betas were released immediately following the WWDC 2024 keynote event. Public betas are expected to be available by the end of June or early July.
