Mediatek has launched the Dimensity 8250, a follow-up to their late-2022 Dimensity 8200 chipset. The 8250 maintains the fundamental features of its precursor with minor enhancements.

Fabricated on the same 4nm TSMC N4 process, the 8250 flaunts a robust octa-core CPU setup. It comprises four high-performance Arm Cortex-A78 cores, with one primary core running at 3.1 GHz and three others at 3.0 GHz. To handle background tasks efficiently, the chipset integrates four power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores operating at 2.0 GHz.
For graphics processing, the Mali-G610 MC6 GPU is employed, providing ample power for demanding applications and games. Adding to the user experience, the Dimensity 8250 supports high refresh rate displays. Users can select between FHD+ displays with a silky 180Hz refresh rate or opt for sharper QHD+ displays with a 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring captivating visuals.
Concerning memory, the 8250 enables smartphone manufacturers to outfit devices with up to 6400Mbps quad-channel LPDDR5 RAM, delivering exceptional data transfer speeds. Moreover, support for UFS 3.1 storage translates to quicker app loading times and overall system responsiveness.

The Dimensity 8250 is set to debut in smartphones soon. The Oppo Reno12, launching on May 23rd, will be the first device to feature this chipset. It’s worth noting that the higher-end Oppo Reno12 Pro will utilize the more powerful “Dimensity 9200+ Star Speed Edition” chipset.
