Microsoft has discreetly revealed a “digital event” for Surface, Windows, and Copilot slated for later this month. The March 21st event, themed around the “new era of work,” is tailored for Microsoft’s business clientele. It will showcase new Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 models designed for businesses, as previously reported. The event will also highlight Microsoft’s forthcoming AI enhancements to Windows 11.
Sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans indicate that the commercial versions of the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 will feature minor spec enhancements. Additionally, Microsoft intends to introduce an OLED display option for the Surface Pro 10 aimed at consumers, with the unveiling anticipated later this spring.
The Surface Laptop 6 might feature a fresh design.
The upcoming Surface Laptop 6 appears poised to be the highlight of Microsoft’s event, boasting a redesigned look with thinner display bezels, rounded corners, a haptic touchpad, and a selection of ports including two USB-C and one USB-A. Reports suggest that Microsoft will offer both Intel Core Ultra and Snapdragon X Elite-based models, with Intel versions anticipated in April and Arm versions in June.
The event page for Microsoft’s March event hints at a focus on scaling AI in computing environments, with a particular emphasis on Copilot, Windows, and Surface. It suggests a subdued affair centered around Microsoft’s AI PC initiative.
Furthermore, Microsoft is developing an advanced AI Explorer experience for Windows 11, which will serve as an enhanced iteration of its AI assistant. According to Windows Central, this feature will log user activities on their PC, allowing them to search for specific moments using natural language in a timeline format. While Microsoft previously attempted a similar concept with the Timeline feature in Windows 10, it failed to gain traction due to limited app support and was eventually phased out.
