Motorola released the Edge 50 Pro phone in Europe. It includes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, UFS 4.0 storage, and a 4,500 mAh battery that can charge at 125W via cable. The Edge 50 Ultra has three rear cameras: a 50 MP primary, a 50 MP ultrawide, and a 64 MP 3X Telephoto.
Recently, Motorola, owned by Lenovo, has been making waves. The Edge 50 Pro made a splash, praised for its affordability. But that wasn’t all—now, the company has introduced the Edge 50 Ultra in some European countries. Unlike its Pro counterpart, the Ultra is a top-tier model, boasting impressive specifications. Here’s the lowdown on the Edge 50 Ultra.
Motorola Egde 50 Ultra: Build and Design
The Edge 50 Ultra features a 10-bit 6.7-inch 1.5K pOLED screen, boasting a swift 144Hz refresh rate—akin to the Edge 50 Pro. With a peak brightness of 2,500 nits and HDR10+ certification, it ensures vibrant visuals. Plus, a touch sampling rate of 360Hz enhances responsiveness. The display offers DC dimming, covers the entire DCI-P3 color space, and is Pantone-calibrated. Protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus, courtesy of Motorola’s recent collaboration, it promises durability.
The phone’s rear design stands out, featuring Pantone finishes. Constructed predominantly from metal, the back mimics the feel of leather.
Performance and Battery
In terms of performance, the Edge 50 Pro stands out as the second smartphone globally to employ the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip. After comparing it with the standard 8 Gen 3 and 8 Gen 2, we found some unexpected results. In short, while its CPU and GPU performance resemble that of the 8 Gen 3, it lacks a few features. Nonetheless, it proves to be a superior system-on-chip compared to the 8 Gen 2. It utilizes UFS 4.0 storage paired with LPDDR5X RAM.
The Edge 50 Ultra houses a 4,500 mAh battery, matching the charging prowess of 125W seen in the Edge 50 Pro. While we had hoped for a bump to 5,000 mAh, the current capacity coupled with rapid charging is expected to suffice.

Cameras, Connectivity, and Software Experience
Regarding the cameras, the phone boasts a triple rear setup. The primary camera is a 50 MP wide snapper with OIS, followed by a 50 MP ultrawide and a 64 MP 72mm telephoto with 3X optical zoom and OIS. Additionally, the front camera is a 50 MP unit.
In terms of connectivity, the phone supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7/6E, and Bluetooth 5.4. Furthermore, the USB Type-C port follows USB 3.1 Gen 2 specifications.
Out of the box, the Edge 50 Ultra will run Hello UI based on Android 14 and is expected to receive three major Android updates and two years of security patches. It boasts an IP68 rating for protection against dust and water.
Edge 50 Ultra: Pricing, Color Options, and Storage Variants
The phone is available in three colors: Fuzzy Peach, Forest Grey, and Nordic Wood. Fuzzy Peach is a Pantone color previously used in the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra. The Motorola Edge Ultra is set to launch in select European countries in the upcoming weeks, starting at €1,000. It will also hit markets in Asia, Oceania, and Latin America shortly.
