The highly anticipated prequel to the 2019 Lion King, “Mufasa: The Lion King,” was announced to be in production in 2022. After a two-year wait, fans rejoiced at the release of the first trailer for this eagerly awaited project. Initially, Disney teased the first glimpse of “Mufasa: The Lion King” on April 29, stating that the trailer would debut the following day. However, to everyone’s surprise, the trailer dropped on the same day.

The trailer showcases a younger Mufasa navigating his purpose amidst formidable adversaries in the jungle. Iconic characters such as Rafiki also make an appearance. Impressively rendered CGI scenes are featured throughout the trailer, with one particularly breathtaking moment showing Mufasa traversing water atop a group of rhinos.
Mufasa: The Lion King Star Cast
Helmed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Barry Jenkins, the film’s narrative will center around Jr. Mufasa and Scar. Audiences will witness Scar’s transformation from loving brother to bitter antagonist in “The Lion King.”
Returning to their roles are John Kani, Billy Eichner, and Seth Rogen as Rafiki, Timon, and Pumbaa respectively. Joining them are Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Aaron Pierre portraying the younger versions of Scar and Mufasa. The voice cast also features Mads Mikkelsen and Thandiwe Newton.
In a surprising turn, Blue Ivy Carter will lend her voice to Kiara, while Beyoncé will reprise her role as Nala.
