In 2014, Apple acquired the Beats By Dre brand for three billion euros. Shortly after, it introduced new Beats products, including an upgraded Beats Solo3 with the Apple W1 chip. Following the acquisition, Apple initially shifted focus away from classic speaker devices like the Beats Solo and Studio, and the iconic Pill speaker. Instead, it launched various wireless headphones and the Solo Pro in 2019, which received mixed reception.
However, this year, Apple is revitalizing it by updating its successful products. After unveiling the new Beats Solo 4 and affordable “AirPods” priced under 80 euros, Apple has now announced a new version of the Beats’s Pill speaker.

It uses the same marketing
The early models of Beats Pills were distinctive for being sold with a stand shaped like a man. The speaker’s advertisement at the time became quite popular.
Apple aimed to capitalize on the success of this campaign by featuring it in short ads to promote the new model.
However, this is purely for marketing purposes, as the stand is no longer included with the speaker. Many internet users have expressed their disappointment about this change.
Details of the new Beats Pills
The new speaker boasts up to 24 hours of battery life and features Fast Fuel technology, providing 2 hours of playback in just 10 minutes of charging. Its USB-C port supports smartphone charging and high-resolution audio playback without loss of quality. Available from Apple for 169.90 euros, it comes in red, black, or champagne beige options.

Why did you wait so long?
Apple’s delay in reintroducing a new Beats Pill was likely due to addressing issues that arose with the first generation in 2015. Eight incidents of battery fires were reported in the United States, although this was minimal compared to the widespread sales of hundreds of thousands of speakers. Nearly a decade later, these concerns are unlikely to impact sales of the new model.
