Apple, a member of the NFC Forum‘s board of directors alongside Google and Qualcomm, utilizes NFC technology in its devices. There’s hope that once this new NFC version is available, it will support iPhone payments. In Europe, the benefits of this NFC evolution could extend beyond Apple Pay due to regulatory changes like the Digital Markets Act, which enables third-party payment apps to utilize the iPhone’s NFC module. However, the timeline for the availability of Multi-Purpose Tap technology remains uncertain.
