Microsoft has released the Windows 11 24H2 update (Build 26100.712) to the Release Preview channel ahead of general availability. You can switch to the Release Preview channel or download the Windows 11 24H2 ISO to upgrade your PC. Note that features like Recall and Cocreator, exclusive to Copilot+ PCs, are not included.
Following the MS Build 2024 event, Microsoft released the Windows 11 24H2 update to Insiders, well ahead of general availability. You can install it now without waiting for months. The update includes a new Copilot app, an improved context menu, a scrollable quick settings panel, and many other features. You can also download the Windows 11 24H2 ISO. Let’s get started.
Switch to the Release Preview Channel
Microsoft is rolling out the Windows 11 24H2 update (Build 26100.712) early to Insiders in the Release Preview channel before general availability. The Release Preview channel is usually less buggy and very close to the stable build. Here’s how to upgrade to the Windows 11 24H2 build in just a few clicks:
- Open Windows Settings: Press Windows + I.
- Navigate to Windows Update: Click on “Windows Insider Programme”.
- Get Started: Click on “Get started” and choose “Link an account”. Sign in with your Microsoft account.
- Select Release Preview Channel: Choose the “Release Preview” channel and click “Continue”. You might be asked to restart your PC. Click on “Restart”.
- Enable Latest Updates: Open Windows Settings again, go to “Windows Update”, and enable the toggle next to “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available”.
- Check for Updates: Click on “Check for updates”. A banner will appear saying “Windows 11, version 24H2 is available”. Click on “Download & install”.
- Restart Your PC: After the installation, restart your PC. The 24H2 update will be installed.
Download Windows 11 24H2 ISO and Clean Install
Microsoft has made the ISO for the Windows 11 24H2 build available. If you prefer a clean install, follow these steps. Note that the current ISO for the Release Preview channel is build 26100.560, so you’ll need to join the Insider program and move to the Release Preview channel after installation to get the latest 26100.712 update.
- Download the ISO: Go to Microsoft’s download page and scroll down to find the ISO for Windows 11 Insider Preview (Release Preview Channel) – Build 26100.560.
- Create a Bootable USB Drive: After downloading the ISO, use Rufus (Free) to create a bootable USB drive.
- Install Windows 11 24H2: Boot from the USB drive and follow the on-screen instructions to perform a clean install of Windows 11 24H2.
