Apple is releasing the iOS 18 developer beta 2 on supported iPhone models. This version addresses many persistent issues and introduces several new features. Notable changes include support for iPhone Mirroring, improved Siri audio without CarPlay, a new verification method in the Wallet app, and System-Wide Translation.
Two weeks after unveiling iOS 18 during the WWDC 2024 keynote, Apple has rolled out developer beta 2. This latest release addresses numerous known issues from the earlier beta and introduces a handful of new features to iOS 18. Here’s what you need to know:

Developer beta 2 finally includes the new SharePlay features and adds support for iPhone Mirroring, which was announced alongside macOS Sequoia. Additionally, here are some notable additions detailed in Apple’s release notes:
- FaceTime with Low Data Mode enabled now consumes more data in good network conditions.
- Journaling Suggestions now supports landscape mode and offers new methods to encourage reflective thoughts.
- New Place ID identifier added to the Maps app.
- Satellite messages sent or received won’t sync across devices.
- Improved Siri audio quality when connected to a car via Bluetooth.
- System-wide translation allows for translating text and displaying results directly from apps.
- The Wallet app now uses Live Photos for ID verification to prevent fraud.
We will update this list as we discover further changes in the beta 2 build. However, we recommend readers refrain from installing this release on their iPhones for now, as it remains far from stable.
