The Apple Vision Pro introduces Environments, virtual spaces that elevate your immersion.
To disable this feature, simply rotate the physical Digital Crown button counterclockwise.
Alternatively, you can also instruct Siri to toggle it off for you.
When I first delved into the Apple Vision Pro, I was amazed by its diverse Environments, which transported me to stunning virtual spaces, enhancing immersion. However, when the Environment level is maxed out, it can lead to unawareness of real-world surroundings, resulting in collisions with objects or people. If you’re new to the Vision Pro and unsure how to toggle off or adjust this setting for better awareness, this guide is here to help. Let’s dive into how to easily disable Environments on your Apple Vision Pro.
Below, I’ve outlined two methods to turn off Environments on Vision Pro.
Turn off Vision Pro Environment Using Digital Crown
To adjust your Apple Vision Pro’s Environment, the simplest method is using the physical Digital Crown button located on the top right side of the headset. Similar to the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch, you can rotate this clockwise or counterclockwise. Rotating it counterclockwise will decrease the Environment level, eventually turning it off completely.
Turn off Vision Pro Environment Using Siri
You can also turn off environments by summoning Siri and commanding her to do so. However, to enable this feature, you must first set up voice control on your Vision Pro. Below is the step-by-step process:
Set up Voice Control
To set up voice control on your Vision Pro, follow these steps:
- Press the Digital Crown once to summon the headset’s Home View.
- Use the pinch gesture on Vision Pro and visit Settings from here.
- In the Settings panel, scroll down on the left panel to find the Accessibility panel and pinch it.
- Scroll down in the right panel to find Voice Control and pinch it.
- Select “Set Up Voice Control” at the top.
- Pinch the blue Continue button in the Voice Control pop-up window. Optionally, adjust the language pack from the panel next to the Continue button.
- Tap the blue Done button in the “What can I say?” window to complete the voice setup and activate Siri.
Summon Siri and Use a Voice Command
- Once the voice control setup is complete, a blue microphone button will appear in your status bar, indicating that you can access voice control at any time.
- To summon Siri, simply say “Siri,” and you will see the Siri icon at the bottom of your field of view. Once Siri is summoned, say a command like “Turn off Environment,” and Siri will promptly execute the action for you.
- To remove the Voice Control icon, simply say “Turn off Voice Control.” A confirmation window will appear, prompting you to pinch the Confirm button to confirm the action.

Interestingly, when attempting to use Siri to turn the Environment back on, it didn’t understand the command. Additionally, Siri can’t adjust the Environment level and can only turn it off for you.
In my opinion, utilizing the Digital Crown button to adjust the Environment is the most efficient method.
